You simply believe in one less God than me? I simply believe in one level of technology higher than yours.
Sam Harris is quoted as saying, “We have a choice. We have two options as human beings. We have a choice between conversation and war. That’s it. Conversation and violence. And faith is a conversation stopper.”
Someone might counter, ‘We have a choice. We have multiple options as human beings. We can choose between conversation and war; video games, isolation, travel and many other things. We can choose between conversation and violence if we believe that we are so narrowly constrained; and faith is a great conversation starter.’
Sam Harris is quoted as saying, “I know of no society in human history that ever suffered because its people became too desirous of evidence in support of their core beliefs.”
There was a society that was desirous of evidence in support of their core belief that it was okay to take vicious advantage of visiting strangers to their city. They suffered. Look it up.
