My Vision as a Writer

Picturing myself as a successful writer.

If I am going to be a successful writer, I need to have what Napoleon Hill called a definiteness of purpose.

“It is essential that you be definite about what it is you are going after; about what your purpose is; that must be very definite. There can be no if’s, and’s or buts about it…” — Napoleon Hill

What does that definiteness of purpose look like for me? How many followers can I picture myself having? How much monthly income could I imagine earning from my writing on Medium?

“…any dominating idea, plan or purpose held in mind through repetition of thought and emotionalized with a burning desire for its realization is taken over by the subconscious section of the mind and acted upon through whatever natural and logical means that may be available.” — Napoleon Hill

My plan: To gain 100 followers and to earn $10 per month.

This goal is believable. I am purposely setting the bar low. I remember in high school when I tried to do the high jump. Sometimes I would jump with a scissor kick method and other times with a kind of Fosbury flop. When the bar was set low, either technique worked.
